First grass crop harvest.. now

For those of you that are interested in the crop production component of Shaw Farm, we have begun cutting and chopping our first crop of grass based feed for our cows.

We will cut and chop over 100 acres before June 1st and store the crop in our bunker silos for year round feed.

 After the first crop is harvested, we try to cut each field every 32 days throughout the summer..

Corn all planted!!

We finished planting the corn for the dairy herd tuesday of this week.

Every year we grow 65-80 acres of corn in Litchfield NH on land belonging to our friends at Wilson Farm. Corn is a part of the daily diet of the non-organic herd.

 Our certified organic herd is grass fed and you can see them grazing on pasture as you drive by the farm.

Whole Foods is one of our wholesale customers, and do a nice job of selling both our certified organic products and our traditional products..

Every year they do a local day to showcase the products from their local farms, and in this area, nothing is more local than milk from Shaw Farm!
